First entirely new chapter is done! Some dangling plot threads resolved, some waters thoroughly muddied. Showing, not telling.

Not much to say – wrote some digs at canteen food, and some self importance from someone whose dreams I am about to ruin. He deserves it.

I’m fairly sure very few people know what a 1920s university canteen was like. I definitely don’t. Which will make writing a chapter predominantly set in one fun, but I’ll adapt.

Today I planned out the first entirely new chapter for the novel in quite a while. I realised that one of my protagonists didn’t have enough to do at this point, and I had a bunch of new subplots that needed resolving, as well as some “show, don’t tell” fixes to implement, so that should be fun.

Well, managed to finish off the Holmes review. Still got to add pictures and finish writing up the conclusion, but 2800 words so far makes this a decent size. At this rate when I finish this, I shall have written over 40,000 words, which is a lot of words.

Did not get as much done as I wanted to today, as I took a bad turn – probably a result of working over the weekend. Still, got another five hundred words or so further in the next Sherlock review, so some progress.

A combination of a busy day, a crashed workspace, and a suprise visit vrom my brother mean that all the scribbling I got to do was another half hour of Sherlock review to clear my head before going out. It’s ridiculously relaxing, actually, and I recommend it.

Did some more work on the next Sherlock review – abbreviated due to three factors. The fact that I had to work today, the fact that I’m going to a wedding reception, and the fact that I noticed another writer in the credits who is not mentioned in the Wikipedia entry on the film, so I had to go back and edit my introduction. I’ll try to get it finished tomorrow, but it depends largely on how quickly I get my work done.

Today’s scribbling was the intro and some of the supplemental stuff for the next Sherlock movie, The Scarlet Claw. Not sure if I’ll do the actual writeup tomorrow – got a wedding to go to. Regardless, will try to get the finished article up by the end of the weekend.
