Last post in the Odd Side of Donegal, unless I find something odd enough to add to it. I really like it, not least because I learned a lot about a writer I admire. It’s called The Navvy Poet And The War Of Words.

Today’s Scribbling: The Navvy Poet
Today I wrote about Patrick MacGill, the poet from Glenties who fought two kinds of war. Tomorrow I may picture it and publish it. After that – I’ve got the feedback from my test reader on the novel, so it may be one final round of editing and then off it goes to…somebody. I’ll figure it out.
Today’s Scribbling: From Pauper to Poet
Today I researched the next (and possibly final, for a while) Odd Side article, this time about a man who succeeded in life with no advantages. I also got to read a bunch of awesome poetry, some of which may appear. And I get to mention Glenties, which has been an unfortunate absence so far. So win-win.
Today’s Scribbling: Mary’s Servant And The Castle Of The Territories
New Odd Side of Donegal article, this time time about the last lord of Doe Castle. Mary’s Servant And The Castle Of The Territories – come for the legend, stay for the facts.
Today’s Scribbling: The Truth of Doe Castle
Yesterday I wrote the legend, today I wrote the facts. Honestly, I prefer the legend. Ah well. Should have this up tomorrow.
Today’s Scribbling: The Legend of Doe Castle
Today I wrote about the legend of Doe Castle. Tomorrow I write about the true story of the villain of the story. Was he a true villain? Who are we to judge? (Answer: A bit, and superior future people.)
Today’s Scribbling: From Ballad to Fact
Today I started with an old Donegal ballad about a pair of doomed starcrossed lovers, and dug through it to a more interesting factual core. I also once again proved to myself that the natural enemy of the Irish is the Irish, but that’s hardly news.
Today’s Scribbling: Struggling through
Today I tried to write some comedy stuff for Newsjack, but that wouldn’t work. Then I tried doing some research for The Odd Side of Donegal, but that didn’t go much better – I think I may have another two or three possible topics, but I suspect that it may be time to close that off until and unless I discover something new for it. Not sure where to go next, though…
Today’s Scribbling: Four Men, Four Years, and Four Millennia of History
Today’s Odd Side of Donegal is called Four Men, Four Years, and Four Millennia of History, and it’s about a book that was written four hundred years ago.
Today’s Scribbling: History is what happens in between
Or so they say. Today I wrote about a history that was four years in the making, and how ambitious it was. Tomorrow I may publish it for you.
