Short chapter again. That’s a worrying trend, but I think it’ll reverse a bit later. One more chapter with the police, and then back to the amateur. It might even be time for a scene change.

When you know where you’re going, it’s tricky to write it. You have to avoid getting ahead of yourself. Still, I’ve already gone back to an earlier chapter to tweak it for foreshadowing, so clearly something is working.

More people sitting in a room talking. Hurray for the police procedural parts!

Today the police ask questions. Another chapter of nothing but talking, and the next looks similar. May need a little bit of action to shake it up.

And the other protagonist finally reappears. Time to spend a few chapters on the policeman’s side of the curtain.

Six chapters in – got a good handle on some of the characters now. And I think I know where I’m going to take them. But the very next thing I’m doing is bringing another old friend back. Looking forward to it.

The calm, before the storm.

Sometimes victory can be turned to ashes in your mouth. Some people are just the worst.

Today’s writing turned the first half of the chapter I planned into a full chapter. Which is handy – give me a chapter to write tomorrow. My hero learned a new skill, I will have to use that later.

Another day on holiday, another chapter. Trying to put some romance in – probably messing it up. Ah well.
