Started work on the next series of historicals. Forgotten Empires, or possibly Emperors. The former is snappier, and may lend itself to more sweeping drama, the second is more focused. Still, this should be fun.

Slowing pace – back at work, and the brain seizing up. Ah well. One more chapter in this, and then time to figure out where from here.

Short chapter again. That’s a worrying trend, but I think it’ll reverse a bit later. One more chapter with the police, and then back to the amateur. It might even be time for a scene change.

When you know where you’re going, it’s tricky to write it. You have to avoid getting ahead of yourself. Still, I’ve already gone back to an earlier chapter to tweak it for foreshadowing, so clearly something is working.

Six chapters in – got a good handle on some of the characters now. And I think I know where I’m going to take them. But the very next thing I’m doing is bringing another old friend back. Looking forward to it.
